Casa Carbone on Glenwood Ave in Raleigh is excellent. It was recommended to me and the food and atmosphere were both excellent, along with the service. I think they accept reservations. This may not be the classiest place but I always get great Italian food at the Macaroni Grill. We ate there last night and the shrimp were out of this world! I've never been to this place but I've heard it's good. It's a four-star retaurant at the Siena Hotel in Chapel Hill called IL Palio Ristorante. Bon Apetit! Try Tira Masu on Falls of the Neuse Road. We, too, like Italian food very much and I think you will all enjoy this very much. It is a small place and definitely requires reservations at least a week ahead. The restaurant is in the shopping center across from MacDonalds. It is down from Ace Hardware. Enjoy! Bob Wilson
Try Aurora in Chapel Hill. Great northern Italian cuisine that isn't overpewered by garlic and sauces. I have dined at all the establishments mentioned in this thread (and a few more) and here is how I see them stacking up:
1. Maximillians - Cary - Everything is good, the pizza is the best!
2. Macaroni Grill - Cary/Durhman - Best Value for the money
3. Paraziade - Durham - Neveau Italian, very good, but not stellar
4. Lucia's - RTP - Good Food Good Quality
5. Sal's - RTP - Good subs, mediocre pizza.
For my money when I want stellar food its maximillians, when I want value, its Macaroni Grill, when I want atmosphere, its Paraziade.
>Jav AtarTry Cafe Tiramasu in North Ridge Shopping Center. It is the best Italian food in the Triangle. By all means call and make a reservation if you want to eat there. Lars Mage
I just ate at Pop's a couple of weeks ago and it was excellent. They just started a new summer menu and you can see it in the Independent this week. It's across from Brightleaf Square in Durham, next to Morgan Imports; they face Peabody St.
Just make sure if you order chicken it is cooked until done (they have a tendency to leave it cluckin')! :-) Jon BONEUNIT wrote: >I just ate at Pop's a couple of weeks ago and it was excellent. Especially if you like overpriced, a little above average food that is undercooked (chicken) or overcooked (if a pasta). Jon
