As a "native" and enjoy going out for dinner and "junk" food/ethnic/etc I have a few ideas for you. (I'm not sure this is a good or bad credential, I apprenticed as a student chef in France about 13 years ago, cooks for a while and then got of the business....for good!!! and really don't have time to cook anymore...(very understanding husband) we have horses and that another whole story in itself so we LOVE to treat ourselve to dinner...all sorts. Just last evening we had a special occasion and dined at a "4 star" quality Restaurant: Chapel's (Old Ciy Hall) On the same scale would be "Edwards Restaurant" (just down the street) and "The Brasserie (across from the Eastman Theater) The Strathallen, and Rooney's (near S Goodman and Clinton). Of the Water Street Grill is another. All in the "expensive" category but fine dining. There 6-7 restaurants on Alexander/Avenue area: Moderate in price Hogan's Hideaway, Hong Kong Restaurant (The Rio--but that should be in the expensive catagory) La Petite Maison, quite a few other. Now to some of the fun stuff: My favorite Chicken wings: #1 Country Sweet # 3 Sal's Birdland #3 Jerimiahs Tavern..but its been a while. Italian: Northside Inn (E. Rochester) Vesuvio's Thai: Mamasan Restaurant ( Official Restaraunt of Brother Wease... but that another story..) Chinese: Lots but House of Poon is pretty good Indian: Raj Mahal (but really this is Rochester..compared to Bradford, UK.. Junk..kill your stomach..greasy, and take your life into your own hands... Nick Tahou's. ("Nick Garbage Plate Special) but the location/risks should be explained..but ask anyone they should no about Nick Tahou's. If you want the biggest and well prepared Prime Rib: Conesus Inn (Conesus Lake So of city) Bagels: Brueggers ect, Alladins, Les Belle Gourmandes, Big Apple, Bay and Goodman Pizza, a "real dinner": Highland Park Dinner, Captain Tony's Pizza, By the say, if you are hungry, and need a good place to get take out anything from Chinese, Veg. Deli, the Wegmans Groceries (both Marketplace or Pittsford and I think the new one in Greece. Wegmans is the big and I mean mega big grocery in Rochester..... sorry for the many typos/....
