My favorite is Lambert's of Taos. Fresh/Calif cusine mostly. One of the best wine lists in NewMexico. Very carefully prepared food. Zeke Lambert is one of the best chefs around. Easily the most memorable of meals I've had at Zekes. His occasional winemaker dinners are not to be missed. Trading Post Cafe. South edge of town near Rancho de Taos. Country Italian cusine. Simple wine list. Very reasonably priced.... no, a steal actually. Doc Martin's at the Taos Inn. Calif cusine w/ some oriental influences. Very extensive wine list but lots of fairly high end stuff. Patrick Lambert (no relation to Zeke) is the chef and a very good one. Good clubby atmosphere. Apple Tree Inn on Bent Street. Bit more simple fare w/ some NewMexican dishes. A great outdoor patio dining area if the weather is nice. Art Greeno knows wine extremely well & has a very nicely done wine list. Modestly priced. Le Folie. Fairly simple but very well done French/bistro fare. Small menu that changes daily. Great lunch place. Outback Pizza. Very good carryout mostly pizza, w/ a few tables. Pretty expensive for pizza, but very good pizza it is. Eske's BrewPub. Simple pub fare but some of the best brews in NM. Casa Luna is also pretty good for Italian fare & I've heard some pretty good reports on Joseph's Table and Jaquelina's (SouthWest cusine). And then for your second day, you should try........ :-) A really great place to stay, really friendly nice people, is the Brook Street Inn B&B on Brook St. just north of the Plaza (505/758-1489, 800/758-1489) Taos is a really neat friendly town, one of my favorite escapes.
