If you have a car, try:

River Palm Terrace, Route 4 West, Fair Lawn (inches west of Paramus). Supposedly the best steak in the northeast (I don't eat steak so I wouldn't know, but this is their second location and it's always crowded.) Suggest you be on an expense account if you go here! telephone 201-703-3500

For good Chinese food, try My Cup of Tea, 14-22 Plaza Road, Fair Lawn (Route 4 west to Route 208; exit at Radburn; turn left at the light onto Plaza Road; continue past the next traffic light-- it's about the 5th storefront on the left. It's less than 10 minutes from River Palm Terrace.) They have an unusual menu with very fresh food and specialize in both hot tea and bubble ice tea. If you go, tell Angie (the owner) that I sent you! telephone 201-796-1669

The Office beer bar & grill, 32-34 Chestnut Street, Ridgewood (one town north of Paramus). Call for directions: 201-652-1070. This restaurant /bar combination has munchies, salads, burgers, steaks, pastas, etc. They also have a dozen brews on tap -- including Sam Adams, Pilsner Urquell, Guiness Stout, Bass Ale, etc. And they feature a different microbrew each week. Available by pint, 1/2 yard, yard, or pitcher. A fun place with very good food!

Ridgewood, by the way, is the restaurant capital of Bergen County, with over 50 in town. Most are near the main shopping street, Ridgewood AVenue (the Office is just off Ridgewood Ave.). There's an Afghan, there's Indian, Japanese, pasta, etc. And some nice shops. But if you park your car, read the signs: parking tickets are big business there!

Marra's Restaurant, 16 South Broad Street, Ridgewood; call 201-444-1332 for directions. Excellent Italian.

Biagio's Ristorante, 299 Paramus Road tel 201-652-0201. A nice Italian restaurant/bar that's not on the highway.

The Forum Diner, 211 Rte 4 west, Paramus tel 845-8850, open 24 hours and pretty good for a diner!

Tawaraya Japanese restaurant, across from the Bergen Mall in Paramus, telephone 201-843-0944. Very nice; try to get one of the booths! They have a good sushi bar.

The usual chains -- TGIFriday, Houlihan's, Outback, Bennigan's, Subway, etc. -- are within a short drive. If you tell me what kind of cuisine you like I can probably think of someplace I've forgotten!

You'll eat well in the Paramus area, without a doubt! - JanisB

Dave:
I would suggest you visit The Triboro Diner, in Maywood, NJ - next town south of Paramus. All Jersey diners are very good, but this one is a cut above ! Travel South on Rt 17 to Essex Street. Turn left and go for about 1 mile. Diner is on your right. Enjoy.
