great italian food in Bradley Beach, NJ

My husband and I just enjoyed a great meal
at a restaurant called La Nonna Piancone's
in Bradley Beach, NJ. The only thing lacking,
IMHO, was the wine selection.

The service was superb, our waitress was incredibly considerate and the timing of the meal was just right. If you are like us, really good service in a average-priced restaurant is so hard to find.

We split an appetizer that consisted of 3 artichoke hearts stuffed with a creamy ricotta-proscuitto mixture topped with well-seasoned breadcrumbs in a francaise sauce. Really, really delicious.

I had a chicken rollantine in a scampi sauce (whole pieces of shrimp and scallops in a white wine/butter sauce). My husband had lobster ravioli topped with shrimp and scallops in a creamy pink sauce. The portions were huge - we brought half of our home. (yum. lunch on Saturday was much better than usual!)

The meal was pretty fattening, but well worth it.
We each had two drinks (2 beers, 2 wines) and the
bill came to around $55 before tip.

P.S. My husband was all excited because some creepy- looking WWF wrestling dude was eating there. Don't ask me which one...they all have such silly names. But boy, that guy was BIG!
