One good upscale place is:
Kingston 1686 Restaurant
Main St.
Kingston, NH
603 642-3637

Food is American/Continental. Prices aren't that expensive for this type of place - esp. if you're used to NY-area $. Jackets are preferred, though "casual but neat" attire seems to be accepted. This place has a HUGE wine list - a Wine Spectator award-winner - so, if you're into wine, give yourself plenty of time to look (and the wait staff won't push you for a quick selection, another plus).

Kingston is about 45 min. northeast of Nashua, in Southern NH, if my mental map serves correctly. ;-)

Enjoy!

Try Giuseppe's in the Mill Falls Marketplace, Meredith, NH. It's on Lake Winnepesaukee, 2 hours north of Boston. Giuseppe founded this gem with his two daughters, who now run it with gusto! The food is wonderful and the people are warm and fun. Call for info 603.279-3313.
