As far as Rest. in Dover, NH go to Portsmouth NH. The Portsmouth scene is exciting from a broad spectrum of dining experiences. On the modest scale is Gilly's one of the oldest lunch wagon/ street style diners in America. Try the Monday special two chile dogs for two dollars. Watch Jerry Springer while waiting on the cook's black and white TV in the "kitchen" The Dolphin Striker, despite the name does a great job with entrees other than seafood. Wannamakers is a nice upscale rest. in a restored Tugboat anchored permanently on the Pisqataqua River.Eat on deck in the summer or below decks during a storm and watch the river splash the porthole over your table. Good food too. Dover has Horsefeathers on the upper square which is not bad. Also They have a location in downtown North Conway if you and your husband are shoppers or skiers. Check out Portsmouth. I have only scratched the dining surface.
