Try the Tillerman. Steak, Seafood, Chicken, etc. Moderate prices, excellent service, above average non-stuffy atmosphere.

It's been a couple of years since I've been to Vegas (mercifully), but I've eaten several times at The Garlic Cafe (3650 S Decatur Blvd, 702-221-0266). It's a more upscale ripoff of The Stinking Rose in San Francisco, but the food was consistently well prepared if not outstanding in any particular way. I haven't found Las Vegas to be an engaging restaurant town...

We went there a few weeks ago to get married and ate at Emeril LaGasse's new restaurant in the MGM Grand. It's in the Mall there. The atmosphere is just OK, but the food and service were very good. Probably about $75 per person if you really put on the dog. Really good, though.

The Tillerman refuses to accept reservations and a wait can last over two hours in a small, smokey bar. The food is ok, very big with people here on conventions, certainly not great- neither is the service.

If you want upscale try Isis in The Luxor hotel.Very good food, very expensive. For a more lighter, trendy, moderately priced food with great desserts and cute drink names try the Millennium(I think that's the name of it) in again The Luxor. Its located on the 3rd floor in the middle of the attractions. It has an adorable *futuristic* look to it.Maybe someone else can remember the name?

Can't remember the name because my brain was numb after trying to eat dinner while music was being pumped out at mega decibel level throughout the place. But, I do remember the service being only slightly more mediocre than the food.

Sorry, just my opinion.

I can't believe nobody has recommended it...

André is my favorite restaurant in Vegas (somewhere between the strip and downtown) and is just wonderful. It's expensive, but it's a world-class restaurant in a city where those are hard to find. And, when I say "world-class," I mean it - not "what people who go to Vegas will think is a world-class restaurant."

I'm not referring to other posts in this thread, but the attitudes of some of the people who work in / for some hotel restaurants in Vegas who think they're the greatest...

See ya...

I recommend Batista's, Ruth Chris Steakhouse (ol' faithful), and all the restaurants at the MGM Grande (Seafood and a Steakhouse).
