x-no-archive:yes Just got back - for traditional Indonesian food try Kantijl en de Tijger on Spuistraat, and further down the same street try Haesje Claes for the atmosphere and substantial good Dutch food. Neither required reservations and are moderately priced. We ate at the Pancake Bakery but, even though it's "traditional" and cheap, it was greasy and not as good as it should have been. Take out cheese or ham and cheese croissants are good, as well as fruit tarts at a bakery chain called Warme Panno (I think that's the name) that is pretty good. An excellent meal (outdoors in a back garden if the weather is good) can be had at Het Land van Walem on Keizersgracht - you may need to reserve, but it is casual. Happy eating!
