Montana
Good Food along Hwy. 2 from Grand Forks, ND, to Spokane, WA
Best restaurant in Wolf Point, MT, believe it or not, is the Elks Club. Great prime rib. There is a little place in Chester MT that the whole town goes to. Ask somebody on the street. Can't remember the name. When you get to Shelby MT if it's business hours, call KSEN and ask to talk to Jerry Black. Tell him I asked him to give you the name of the best restaurant in town. (Jerry owns the station and is a good friend.) (Can't eat in both Chester and Shelby...they're too close to each other on US2) There is reportedly a great seasonal Mexican restaurant in East Glacier MT but I have not tried it because it hasn't been open when I've been there. But it gets raves from a friend who lived there over a summer. For good hotel food and much much charm, eat at the big lodge in East Glacier. Just walking in and around the place is worth it. Along US2 about two or three miles west of West Glacier MT there is a place where they barbecue ribs outdoors in a campground during the summer. Don't miss it if it's open. En route home, the best steaks in Montana are at Guys Steak House in Lolo. Lolo is a little town about six miles south of Missoula. Coming >from Spokane, get off I90 at the Reserve St. exit and follow it south. Go several miles, past a million discount stores and turn right on Brooks St., major intersection clearly marked 93 south. Drive to Lolo. Go through town and turn right on US 12, following the sign that says "Lewiston ID." Go four blocks ... Guys is a log house on the right. Get there early or late, or plan to wait. No reservations. Order the T-bone. Enjoy! Bill Knowles University of Montana [email removed] On Tue, 23 May 1995, John A. wrote: > I'll be travelling along the above route in early June.
