I just went over there this evening - didn't know about it until I saw this post. It's pretty much the same as Zuzu's. It's been a while since I've been to Zuzu's so I won't even try to compare the two - almost like two peas from the same pod. If you liked Zuzu's, you'll like Tomatillo. Tomatillo's has 7 different burritos ($4.75 - $4.95) and 4 different tacos (8 if you consider they can be made with either soft or crispy corn tortillas). The tacos come three to a plate at about the same price. There are veggie versions of everything, including the chili ($2.25 c / $2.75 b). They plan to have beer and margaritas, but don't have thier liscense yet. I had a Fritz root beer. I had the "Barbacoa" burrito - jalapeno cilantro rice, shredded lettuce, black beans (or pinto), cheese and braised beef, all wraped up in a flour tortilla. Pretty good size - I was glad I didn't get chilli to go with it. > And what's with this group? Nobody dining out any more, or is it > just DejaNews' erratic performance in showing posts here? I think people find these places and then try to keep them secret. I don't know how your budget is, but a lady friend and I ate at Harvest last Sat. evening - we found out you can generally get in and eat at the bar without a reservation. We had a dozen oysters (they fix them three different ways), an order of garlic potatoes, some kind of flat bread topped like a pizza and a couple Bud's. It was all outstanding, but we dropped somewhere around $50. Originally we were just going to have a beer and *maybe* an appetizer at the bar, read the menu and then go somewhere else to eat.

What about the Tomatillo Grill?

Easiest just to quote from the RFT 1998 Restaurant Guide: "HARVEST, 1059 S. Big Bend, 645-3522... "American cuisine and 'harvest-fresh' local and seasonal ingredients in a warm, casual setting... "Multitiered presentations of seafood, steaks, chicken and vegetables with 200-bottle all American wine list." That's just around the corner from the Esquire theater (which is on Clayton). We were just in the mood for oysters that night, but they were as good as *any* I've had in Saint Louis. Like I said, you can usually just walk in and get a seat at the bar for wine/beer and appetizers if you just want to look it over. I wouldn't be ashamed to take anyone there, but don't expect a real cheap meal.
We walked in at 5:30 on a weekday and got a table without reservations. Our meal was wonderful...and very expensive. Ben S. < "HARVEST, 1059 S.
