Smoke-free bar/bar with non-smoking section?

Last Sunday, we were looking for a bar to watch the Super Bowl because our TV at home is tiny. One thing that I hate about bars is the smoke. I wish that there was a smoke-free bar with a big TV for sporting events. In the end, we settled for Hacienda in Rock Hill. Luckily, almost no one else had the same idea, so their bar was almost empty. So we had very little smoke to deal with, great chips, fantastic chunky salsa, expensive-but-yummy top shelf margaritas, and the RAMS WINNING THE SUPER BOWL! We'll probably go there again for the Pro Bowl on Sunday. I encourage other non-smokers to do the same. The food is spectacular too.

Might do as a smoke-free sports bar, but as a resaurant .... our experience there has been that there's some kind of screw-up in the service every time. Food's OK but pricey for Mexican.

That's amazing. We have been there hundreds of times, and we've never had anything but good experiences. They don't list the entrees ala carte--instead they list either "3 of the above", 4 of the above" or 5 of the above"--but if you just order, say, one beef chalupa with a side of beans, they are not overly expensive. The beef that they use on the chalupas, tacos, etc. is excellent, and their chunky salsa is great. Always ask for the chunky salsa instead of the house salsa, which is mediocre. Also, their house margs leave something to be desired. Order the top shelf margs. The owner is often there in the evenings. We eat there often enough that he recognizes us, and sometimes comes by the table to ask if everything is alright.

We buy several of those Entertainment coupon books, and seldom eat out w/o using the buy-one-get-one-free entree coupons. Hacienda is a notable exception. It is one of the only restaurants in StL where I'm willing to pay full price.

Note: Hacienda's bar is not smoke free--I WISH!!!!--but on Super Bowl Sunday, it happened to be empty. Usually in the evenings it is, just like every other bar, too smoky for my tastes.

If you ever have another problem there, do ask to see the manager. Like I said, they seem to be unusually concerned with customer satisfaction. If the owner is there, I'd bet that he'd try to make things right for you.
