In KC, for formal, or nicer meals, try Venue, Metropolis, or American Cafe. All are in KC, MO.

A very good meal can be had at Cafe Allegro, in KC, MO, on 39th very near the KS/MO border, just up from the KU Medical Center.

In Overland Park, KS, I personally like Mother India on Metcalf. Some people like Coyote Grill, in Mission, KS.

One can always get a reliable meal at the Classic Cup, on the Plaza, in KC, MO.

There's always KC BBQ, but that's a whole 'nother story.

Steve, The American Restaurant in Crown Center is the best. On the Plaza, check out Venue or Metropolis. In Overland Park, Ya Ya's on 119th is your best choice. For BBQ, Haywards in OP is the best in the USA.

One of the best restaurants in the Kansas City area is near or in Overland Park: Tatsu's. French cuisine; expensive for KC; casual dress is fine; you should make a reservation. Top rated in the Zagat guide for '94. I've been twice in last 2 years and have been pleased both times.

ps
It's in a small strip mall on Roe.

K.C. Masterpiece resteraunt, just off I-435 at Metcalf (US 169) in Overland Park is an excellant barbeque place even by Kansas City standards. The atmosphere is casual but well kept and Dr. Davis has high standards of service and quality. It gets busy tn the evening, so I'd recomend reservations. Hope you enjoy your stay in one of my favorite cities to visit.

If you're heart isn't set on BBQ, I'd recommend Strouds for one of the best family style fried chicken dinners anywhere. I think there are 2 locations, but I like the one at 85th and Holmes.

You won't be disappointed.
