Two locations the original is 18 and Prospect area. It's ok to go to just don't walk the neighborhood. We prefer the Station Casino location because the meat seems better also like the casino. The portions are big. We split a turkey/beef combo and a large order of fries. This order of fries is a full dinner plate heaped. The fries are worth the trip. The sandwiches are about two inches thick. Beer at first location is ICE cold and great, bigger mugs it seems. Try the sauce on your potatoes first. The original is my favorite but they have a sweeter more traditional sauce also. In fact when we went back to KC for the holidays I picked up several bottles of sauce since I haven't been able to get in Texas. There is Jake's Eat it and Beat It downtown but haven't tried it but supposed to be good. Smokestack on Prospect (South 71 hiway) is great but away out. Midtown - don't walk the neighborhood. Do not like the one at the city market. KC BBQ is upscale and not really a BBQ joint. Gates is OK but be prepared to be shouted at as soon as you walk in the door HI MAY I HELP YA before you even seen the menu. Fries are poor, beans good, meats good. Zarda's in Lenexa and Blue Springs are good suburban bbq. We go to Bryant's every chance we get. Crave a Bryant's fix right now.
