The only thing about the Rattlesnake Club is that they have a bit of a history of running hot and cold. I've eaten in there four(ish) times and my meals have all been excellent. Plus, in the summer, you can eat out on the deck and listen to good jazz. Just up the river a few yards is "Louie's on the River". New Orleans style cuisine, an outside deck right on the water, and a Bananas Foster dessert that'll blow your mind. Glenn
Another place I can heartily recommend is Stewarts. Located on Woodward at the corner of Canfield right across Canfield from the Whitney. It is a fairly quiet nicer place with excellent food (filet, pasta, seafood) and it is owned/run by the chef (Ron Stewart) and his wife. As far as attire, I've seen jeans in the same room with suits. The prices range from 6-24 dollars (last time I looked) and their slogan is "romance never dies".
