I'm assuming you will be staying in the downtown area...First and foremost I would have to recommend the Whitney restaurant (313-832-5700). I am slightly biased, in that I am a server there, but it is a highly acclaimed (DiRONA, Mobil 4 star) restaurant with plenty of seafood. It's in a restored 1900 mansion and just absolutely breathtaking. Visit www.thewhitney.com to see a menu.

Joe Muer's seafood is also well known, if a bit pricey for what you get in my opinion. After many years serving the Detroit area, it will close soon so it will be your last time to visit a Detroit icon.

If you're looking for a more casual/reasonable atmosphere Sparky Herbert's in Grosse Pointe Park in quite reasonable and reminds me a bit of a pub.

I'd be happy to help with any more questions, I've known the Detroit restaurant scene for quite a while.

I don't know where in the Detroit area you are staying, but I love Morel's. It's in the Detroit suburb of Southfield- NW of the city. Great food using Michigan ingredients. A reservation is a must on weekends. Whenever I'm in the area I eat there.
