I'm an ovo-lacto vegetarian who eats little or no fat, and have found
a few places I like myself close to me; you might find them a good choice.
I don't know where you're going in Detroit but you're not far from either whereever you go-

For one, the OM Cafe' in Ferndale has both fish and REALLY GREAT
vegetarian foods, mostly macrobiotic. One thing that makes my mouth water even if I'm stuffed is their corn/adzuki bean/brown rice croquettes and miso vegetable soup. I'm so nuts for the croquettes I ended up making up my own recipe for them. Best of all, I can't think of anything in there that a lowfat eater couldn't eat. They do not serve alcohol. It's close to the Detroit Zoo - I'm not sure on the exact addresses, locations - about no more than a mile south I THINK.

The second good place is Seva's in Ann Arbor, only about 35 min. from
Detroit. This place is a joy - they don't serve meat, but their food is so expertly prepared no one could resist it. Be forwarned that some entrees are fatty, but those get rave reviews from those who do like them.
My favorite is the Stir-Fry, steamed and soaked in extra teriyaki sauce. So good you want a quart. Also try their vinegar dressing with a huge salad. It's located by the Main Library downtown.

Another thing - both places serve very large servings, so don't order
too much or you'll be way too full. Instead of soup, salad, entree and dessert, order proportionately. Get a big salad, but no soup, or the other way around.

Hope this helped!
