If you're going to Ann Arbor, you absolutely MUST make it to The Earle. It is my favorite restaurant in the state, to say the least. The menu changes regularly and is provencial French/Italian. Last time around I had a wonderful duck salad to get things started, then a perfect tenderloin of beef with a deep, intense wine sauce. Speaking of wine, the list is huge and very nice indeed. Appetizers run about $5-$10, entrees $13-$21, desserts around $5. Worth every penny. The Kerrytown Bistro serves up French food and does it very nicely; just a split hair below The Earle in quality. The wine list doesn't begin to compare, but you should enjoy the meal. Gratzi on Main does some very nice Italian dishes at fairly reasonable prices. The pasta is fresh, the place is casual and the service is friendly. Tends to be crowded and they won't take reservations, but you can call one in and show up about the time they promise the table. Folks recommend the Moveable Feast for fine dining, but I've never been. For Chinese, there's a place called -- I think -- the Hong Kong Seafood Restaurant. I almost certainly have the name wrong. Great dim sum and fresh (as in right out of the tank) fish prepared with wonderful sauces. Dig in and enjoy!
