Last time I was in Cozumel was in '90, so this may be a little out of date...

On our third day there, we found a restaraunt called the Fajita Factory - little hole in the wall about 2 blocks off the main strip - the best chicken soft tacos I have ever tasted. Family run and very authentic - we insisted on Dos Equis beer instead of Corona and the women who owned the place said she would get them for us. After we sat down, we saw her run across the street to a liquour store and buy a 6 pack for us...thought that was great. We went back for one meal a day after that.

A good bar to go to in Cozumel and Cancun is Carlos and Charlies - a great time Wait until a cruise ship is port before going in Cozumel to maximize the expereince. Hope you have a great time - can't wait to go back myself!!!

There's a great restaurant in the town of Cancun
(as opposed to the hotel zone) called La Habichuela (spelling? it means the string bean). The food is great and the atmosphere is wonderful. Make reservations so you can sit in their outside courtyard. Their house soup - string bean, of course, was deliciously green. I also had a scallop dish with ginger and pumpkin that was out of this world.

There's an italian restaurant that is across the
way from the Hard Rock Cafe in Cancun that had a mean Caesar salad. I forget the name, but as I recall it was white both inside and out.

I was told that another restaurant in the town of
Cancun is very good, but I haven't been there myself. It's called El Pescadoro.

If you want more info, let me know. We've been there twice. My advice - avoid the chains (Hard Rock, Planet Hollywood, Carlos & Charlies, etc. They are all the same as back home.
