Poppa 'n Goose

I've always enjoyed the Asian (Asean?) restaurant Poppa and Goose
in the Lechmere area of Cambridge on First St. across from the
CambridgeSide mall. I haven't been there in a while, but on two
recent Friday evenings, I went there with friends for dinner,
and the place was _deserted_--we were the only table for as long
as we were there at the peak of dinner hour. Once could be an
anomaly, but when I went there last Friday and found the same
situation, it felt a bit like I entered the Twilight Zone.

I can't really figure out what the problem is: the food was
as good as always. Is it just summertime, and all the students
are gone? Do people think of it as a place to get lunch and
skip it for dinner? I'd hate to see it close for lack of
business (not that I have any reason to think that's the
case, except for the scarcity of patrons on my last two visits.)

Was I just catching it on two unusually slow evenings?

Nobody wants to go back into work on the weekend.

Pappa and Goose is right near a whole bunch of offices; most of its
clientele is nearby busnesscritters and techies. Lunchtime is generally
hopping, and weekday dinners are fairly busy, but when Friday rolls
around, everybody wants to get *out* of there.

Don't worry; they're not likely to go out of business.

They're also raking in the cash from their mobile food truck, serving lunch in
front of 545 Tech Square in Cambridge every day from 11:30-2. Go see what the
line is like at noon to ease your mind about their financial situation.
