Here's a copy of the post mentioned. I haven't tried it yet myself, but if I get to the Fall River area,.... Ideally close to Boston but we're willing to make a pilgrimage if we must. ----- Well for something unique, one must take a little trip down route 24 to Fall River. The "Uke" or " Ukrainian Home" is a basement dive, located in the old Ukranian Home that serves up cabbage and potato Pirogies, Galumpkies, and Polish Sausage. By far the most interesting item on the menu is the cabbage soup.....I guess at one time there was quite a large Polish/Ukrainian population in Fall River, but that has dwindled down, and the Portugese culture has snuck in and they have created " fusion" cuisine.....the Cabbage Soup has Porugese Chorizo in it , and its out of this world. Also , the Polish sausage plate comes with Sausage, pierogies, Galumpkes and soup, and its so cheap one can stuff oneself and then roll out the door for about 7 bucks. The Ukranian Home is located at 482 Globe street, Fall River Mass.508-672-9677 They also serve fish, steaks, and seafood, but I have never eaten anything there but the Polish offerings. ----- Although I haven't been there in perhaps 10 years, I often ate there when I was passing through on business and was always pleased. Unless they 've changed, don't expect a flashy building, just quality , moderate prices and perhaps a unique ethnic ambiance.
