Just to mention a couple of favorites, all excellent food...

Chau Chow's in Chinatown. Hole in the wall, *awesome* food, and cheap
too. Can you beat that? Better Chau Chow's than Grand Chow's across
the street. Grand is prettier, but the food is just slightly better
in the original; I guess the older members of the family cook there.

Marino's near Porter Square, Cambridge. Expensive (I paid $70 for two
with drinks) but totally worth it. Saffron ravioli stuffed with crab,
 mmm...

Giacomo's in the North End. Of course, Italian.

Everybody mention some specific favorites, please! I'm always hunting
for places I don't know, and since I'm a college student, I'm sure
there are many that I've never heard of that are musts.

Try Olives in Charlestown. The food is, I think, the best in Boston -- a
groovy Med. mix. Save room for dessert -- their pastry chef is an
 absolute goddess.

My current favorite is the Blue Wave, on E. Berkeley St.
in the South End. Very creative menu, prices $9-13 for
almost everything, and superb roast chicken. The atmosphere
 is fun, but noisy.

Olive's is the place I'd head for first. And I've only been able to eat at
the counter (I hear it's bigger now). In any case, the food's great.

I went to a Tapas bar called Dali in Somerville (near the Cambridge line).
The address is 415 Washington St. Everything I had was really good, and
the atmosphere was fun as well.
