Following a tip from someone here, I had dinner a couple of nights ago at the Olé Mexican Grill. Quick review - I'll be going back there often. They've been open 2 1/2 weeks, but they seem to be fully set up now, with the whole menu available. We got in about 9:50pm on Tuesday and were one of only two parties there. A bit of a big restaurant to be so empty, but they're new. They've done a nice job on the space - it's bright and cheery and comfortable, not at all like the old Cafe Soho. The food, on the whole, was quite good. I grew up on Mexican food (in Texas and later New Mexico), so I think my standards are somewhat high, if proletarian. Olé Mexican Grill satisfies. We started out with some tacquitos, perfectly fried and tasty. I was impressed that they had real queso blanco. My entree, carne puerco adobo, was a bit dry and not quite spicy enough for my tastes, but was really quite good, especially considering to do that dish right requires large batches cooked for hours. My partner's dinner, a fancy cheese enchiladas, was very good - they used a nice cheese, good chile, etc. Rice and beans were fine, nothing special. The corn chips were *awful*, slightly stale unsalted generic things they'd bought somewhere. I tried to convince the waiter to buy their chips from La Tacqueria Mexicana, we'll see :-) The margaritas were quite good; a bit low on the alcohol scale, but real limes were involved somewhere. I hope this place makes it. It's a tough location, and Boston is a tough crowd for Mexican. But it's better than most of the other options I've had in Boston - the only place I like nearly as much is Casa Mexico.

Olé Mexican Grill in Inman Square
My greatest fear is that they will close the original on Broadway in Arlington. Olé Mexican Cafe, which is wonderful. - ben
