I was there a couple of weeks ago but I don't know if I
can provide much more detail than the Globe.
Food - Good. We had the mussels appetizer and I had a pork
loin something or other. Both were quite good.
Beer - A nice selection on tap.
Atmosphere - Loud. Very loud. In addition to guy sitting behind
us who was working VERY hard to impress his date with
how great and successful he was, there was a constant
din from the rest of the room. Not much sound supression.
Service - Spotty. Our initial order was taken promptly. However, when
our entrees arrived, there was no butter for the baked potato.
The waiter finally returned with the requested butter sometime
after I had finished the pork loin. Our second round
of beer sat on the bar so long that the bartender
brought them over. She apologized for the delay. Our
appetizer dishes were never cleared, which was a bit of a
problem because we were seated at a small table.
I will attribute the service problems to the fact that they might
still be working out the kinks since the place is pretty new. I'll
probably be back. For a quieter place in the same neighborhood,
you could visit Tallulahs.

Has anyone tried Joshua Tree?

We all agreed that it was a "fun" night out but nothing to write home about in terms of the quality of the food. We actually liked the appetizers more than the entrees--the latter seem to be typical versions of Tex-Mex favorites. Nothing wrong with that; it's straightforward bar food. A very good selection of brews, and yes, it is loud in there--but I'm assuming that's the kind of boisterous atmosphere that the Joshua Tree is trying to project.
