I'm a medical student at Boston University School of Medicine. The other day, I was harassed, assaulted and pushed and shoved out of Gyuhama restaurant by the manager. For those who don't know.. Gyuhama is a restaurant on Boylston street, and is one of the more popular sushis bar in Boston City. I was there having some sushi and sashimi, and my friend who was there with me complained that the tuna didn't taste too fresh. I tasted it and agreed with her. It wasn't spoiled but it was what you could call a borderline case, very close to becoming spoiled. All i wanted was some new fish, and the waitress tells me that she feels that the sushi is quite fresh. I tell her that I cannot eat the tuna and I asked her to just replace it with any other type of fish. Then she grudgingly agrees, and brings me some yellowtail instead (hamachi), and before i have my first bite, the japanese manager comes and literally cusses me out saying : " you godamn fuck, you insult my restaurant.. the fish is fresh" (* this is not word for word but the bad words I mentioned were all used *). So I got a little upset, and I paid my bill, and even paid the tip, and on my way out, i just went to the manager and cussed him back saying he shouldn't treat his customer this way. Before I know it he grabs me and yells that his fish is fine, and then pushes me all the way out to the streets.. i mean forcefully, cussing and using profane languages all throughout. I had to remind him that I was not picking the fight, that he was and if the other manager didn't come out and stop him it would have been very close to a fist fight. Conclusion : Is there something fishy here??? I mean cussing and bitching and pushing and shoving over 3 pieces of tuna (that's right folks -- 3 pieces). The point is, even if the fish wasn't bad.. is this anyway to treat a customer? If I didn't pay the bill, I wouldn't be so angry, but since I paid my bill (which was close to 56$ for two people, and I didn't even get to eat half of my food), I am in all legal sense a customer to that restaurant, and as a customer, don't we even have a right to at least complain when we feel that the food is not upto par???? I expected apologies, when I complained and immediate correction , but instead, I get pushed, shoved, and cursed at. I felt that I was severeley mistreated at this restaurant, and I want to ask all of you, if you goto Gyuhama, please think again. I felt severely abused at this retaurant. Furthermore, if you do decide to go anyway.. well don't complain about their fish if you don't wish to ruin your day, . and if you do, i hope that you all know some form of self defense. Thank you. sincerely, a concerned and ticked off customer.
