I haven't seen any mention in this thread of the wonderful and timeless
Cabot's in Newton -- which is at once the great American ice-cream parlor
and an utterly unique place, one that justifiably dubs itself "the Crazy
World of Ice Cream." Its peppermint-stick ice cream is close to perfection,
and it makes fine frozen yogurt in dozens of flavors.
Then there's the long list of departed, much-missed ice cream places, such
as Bremare in Kenmore Square, which made extraordinary peppermint-patty,
and Bostonian in Watertown, which had several really good, really unusual
flavors.
