these are not in boston proper but i consider a 1/2 hr drive in the neighbor-
 hood.

the saigon restaurant in millis, off route 109, has extremely good food. the
atmosphere is relaxed and is byob, so you won't get nicked by overpriced
 libations.

the southeast asia in lowell is way good food and features a market.
lowell is rather interesting place now that it has national park status.
my recommendation is to pick a night during the lowell folk music festival,
free open air shows, and stop by the southeast asia.

BTW if anyone has an update on mary chung's either post or drop me a note.

 take care,

Naw, but for Cambodian/French try Elephant Walk in Somerville.
Incredible stuff, quite different from what I expected --it's nice to
be surprised so pleasantly-- and impeccably prepared. Definitely the
 Real Thing.

Buddha's Delight in Chinatown is not at all Vietnamese (this is the
second time in a week I've heard this claim.) The barbecued gluten is
wonderful, a true taste of the fire (and smoke. Yes, there is a difference.)

I forgot the name, but the BEST place is on Adams Ave in Fields Corner,
Dorchester, 1/2 block north of the intersection with Dorchester Ave.
Dorchester Ave has become the center of a large Southeast Asian
 community.
