Oak Bluffs has a fair number of restaurants, but nothing extraordinary. For my money the best food to be had on the Vineyard is found in West Tisbury at the Red Cat. The seafood is incredble -- much more inspired cooking than your typical seafood house. The style is haute-American/Nouvelle (but no skimpy portions) Sure it's a bit pricey, but it's absolutely worth it. The atmosphere is medium-casual and the waitstaff are great. Bring your own wine -- West Tisbury is a dry town. If you want good seafood (regular American style) you can go to The Home Port restaurant in Menemsha. It's kind of pricey too, but they make my favorite chowder. They also have a take-out window in back that will save you some money. Take your food down to Menemsha beach and watch the sun set. Menemsha is also a dry town. If you are stuck in OB you can try Zapotec (Mexican), or just up the street from Zapotec is a pan pasta place whose name alludes me just now. Go there only if you really like garlic. David
