The number one thing going for the Pamplona Cafe is that they've been there so long, and haven't changed in at least the 19 years since I first set foot on these shores. They've been serving espresso and so forth infinitely longer than have the current Seattlan blight. The tiny, intimate tables are usual full with Beat wannabees and arguing grad students. The menu doesn't have much, but the Cuban sandwhich (Media Noche) wasn't bad. Thread convergence: the upstairs (outdoors) is a great place to watch Bow Street, which, like the rest of the Mall formerly known as Harvard Square, used to be more interesting.
