Try Milford Mandarin on Rt 16 in Milford; it's across the parking lot from the Super Stop and Shop . Also, atmosphere stinks but Panda King, in the old Sticky Wicket in Hopkinton is worth a try. Chinese/Szechuan food in Framingham?
I've been impressed with Imperial China on Rte. 9 westbound in Framingham, just before Rte. 30, but that may be because they give you soup with the lunch specials even when they're to go. Big Food always wins me over. :-). It's where the old May Garden used to be, for you Framingham regulars. I don't know their MSG policy, though.

I think it's Lotus Flower. It's okay...the buffet seemed kinda greasy the few times I was there. I prefer Ming Garden's buffet. I can't think of any restaurants in Framingham that I would consider *really* good. Given the number of options, it's pretty sad... my $.02 =========================================== Gary Levenson [email removed] The MathWorks, Inc. ph: 508 647-7000 http://www.mathworks.com Remove the NOSPAM from my address to send me email ===========================================

The Bangkok Oriental (sp?) on Rt 9 Eastbound behind Houlihan's is very nice, IMO. I like the Angel Wings appetizer a lot. I also like the Thai iced tea. As for entrees, I like the duck curry dishes, but I've never found a duck I didn't like. %^D I think the place is rather elegant, and I highly recommend it, especially for lunch. It is rather moderately priced, although perhaps a bit higher than other places for lunch, but one dollar more is worth it, for the ambiance. It was not crowded for lunch last time I was there. De gustibus non est disputandum, I guess. I go to Dragon Garden as a last resort (like, I'm coming out of Egghead and all of a sudden I realize I will collapse instantly without an immediate MSG infusion). The place behind Caldor is Lotus Blossom. Decent buffet - it's the Network World Chinese expense-account eatery of choice - but overall I'd still recommend Imperial China further down Rte. 9. > >In fact, I would be troubled to point *any* realy good restaurants in Framingham >period - 90% of them are chains anyways ( that 1 hour wait any time of day or night at >Olive Garden still puzzles me), so if some one can - let me know! > Have you tried Mirage, in the same strip mall as Lotus Blossom? Quite nice Lebanese food, at least at lunch.

We were the only people in the place (kind of unusual for a place that used to always be busy). It was dark and gloomy. The food was almost inedible...tasting like it had been pulled from a deep freezer and then microwaved to death. I ordered a spicy beef dish, and there was something very wrong about the way the meat tasted. The salad was a chunk of old iceberg lettuce with a piece of tomato and some yellow looking mayonnaise dressing. Ick. I haven't been back... Thai Orchid on the other hand has been consistently good, except when it gets so crowded that they can't keep the buffet stocked. =========================================== Gary Levenson [email removed] The MathWorks, Inc. ph: 508 647-7000 http://www.mathworks.com Remove the NOSPAM from my address to send me email ===========================================

Closed Tuesdays and definitely, this is THE South Indian restaurant in the Boston area. The dishes are quite authentic and offers a break from the typical India restaurant. Try IDLI&sambhar, Vada&sambhar, Masala Dosai, Uthapam and Bisibele_bath. These are dishes that south Indians eat back home; the taste comes pretty close to home-cooked (although, back home, these dishes always are better in restaurants). Enjoy. Marigowda Divya PS: I have no connection with this restaurant; this is just my outburst of joy, after finally finding a good South Indian restaurant here, instead of driving to NY/NJ.
