Some friends and I decided to take advantage of Bomboa's three
course dinners that they serve M-F until 7PM. You get a choice
of 3 appetizers, 3 entrees and 2 desserts. It was listed as
being $24.50 in the paper but actually was only $22 and definitely
worth it. We all got the baby greens salad which was interesting
with pine nuts and some fruit in it and a nice dressing. The
other choices were cucumber soup and steak tartare. I had skate
and it was delicious. It was advertised as scampi but didn't
seem that garlicky and the butter was more beurre blanc and it
seemed like there was some truffle oil on the plate, but I'm not
an expert in these things. It was lightly fried, served over
mashed potatoes and tiny round things that we couldn't figure out
what they were. Two people got the hanger steak with fries and one
person got chicken and everyone was very happy with their choices.
Two of us got the excellent ginger creme brulee and two got a
chocolate cake. Service was good. The other split a bottle of
Coppola wine that seemed to pass the test. The lounge area is
swanky with its zebra striped seats. The main dining room is not
as funky, but pleasant nonetheless. If you want an early dinner,
I'd definitely recommend their prix fixe.
