We spent last weekend at the beach and had the great luck to eat at Mick & MIke's for crabs on Friday night. Since we have a 3.5 year old, we asked what time to get there so we wouldn't have to wait long. They said just get there before 7, which we did. However, the tables were all long picnic tables and they seemed to turn over quickly. You can sit on the deck or on a screened-in porch. Since it was about 500 degrees out, we chose the porch! Now for the best part. They have a choice of all you can eat or by the dozen. All you can eat was $19/person. Don't know why we didn't do that except we were afraid the crabs would be too small. The people at the next table did that and when I asked her how they were, she said "Wonderful!" So, guess that's a good way to go. However, we decided to be big-spenders and went for a dozen jumbos. And I mean JUMBO. I didn't know what a jumbo looked like so the waiter actually brought out a bushel basket of them - HUGE, beautiful, Maryland blues. Nirvana. Now for the bad news - the price. $55/dozen. Yes, that sounds like highway robbery, but we split it between myself, my husband, and my friend so it wasn't too bad. And when it was all over we decided that he must have given us more than a dozen because we couldn't finish what he gave us - they were THAT big. Unbelievable chunks of sweet lump crab came out of those babies, and we all thought we'd died and gone to heaven. So, the price was high, but we all thought it was well worth it. The only other thing we had was sweet corn and drinks. Oh, and my son fared quite well too. He made *very* good friends with two adorable little girls, age 2 and 4, who proceeded to get him in a corner and take turns hugging him.
