This isn't Charles or Calvert County, it's between them (in St. Mary's) but there's a great place for seafood (including crab) on St. George Island on the left immediately after you cross the bridge from Piney Point. It's about a half hour from Solomons (maybe a little less). I've forgotten the name but the food was excellent every time I was there.

If you have one of the official state of Maryland road maps, you'll find St. George Island and Piney Point both listed in the index. They're quite a ways down the Potomac, almost to St. Mary's City anda Point Lookout, but worth the drive.

Evans Seafood. (301) 994-2299. Closed during a part of the off-season, call ahead. They didn't accept credit cards last time I was there (a while ago).
