Are you perhaps thinking of a roadside stand in Putney run by Curtis Tuff? I haven't lived there in 15 yrs and can't remember the name, but Curtis is rather justifiably renowned for his BBQ.

Hi,

Curtis' Barbecue is the place in question. Last time I was there, it was two buses and a picnic area. Curtis is a true master, and cooks over a wood fire. It is located in Putney, VT. I-91 Exit 4, near the MA border. I am certain it is exit 4, but I would consult a map to be sure. Once off the exit, there is an auto body shop and a gas station right there. Curtis is located behind them. You will usually see telltale smoke to guide you. When I lived in New Haven, it was not unreasonable to drive a few hours, salivating all the way, just to eat ribs and chicken as only Curtis can make them. His ribs are state-of-the-art.

Enjoy,
