I just got back from NO (had a great time and can't even look at the scales yet) and had a great bowl of turtle soup at Mandina's. Someone on this group had recommended Mandina's for turtle soup, artichoke and oyster soup and seafood gumbo. I tried all three and all were excellent. The artichoke and oyster soup was one of the top three dishes of the whole trip. Mandina's is on Canal about 2 miles into the neighborhoods from the central business district. When we were there is was all locals. Definitely not a tourist hang out. You go often enough and you are required to sit with "your" waiter. I'd like to claim responsibility for naming the three soups, since they were good ;-) The "seafood" Po Boy is mighty fine, too. And Lemon Grass, the Vietnamese-Creole fusion joint, is excellent -- I recall a crab cake with a chili-infused gastrique drizzled on the plate that was stellar. No turtle soup, though.
