Which cities or towns? If you're interested I could get in touch with some family members down there and ask for suggestions.

If you're in Pointe Coupee (sp?) Parish in the town of Livonia, there's a good eatery called the Dreyfus Store where you can get marinated crab fingers so good you'll want to slap your mama. It's a few miles west of Baton Rouge just off highway 190 near Bayou Grosse Tete.

In the town of Brusly (say "BREW-lee) there's a fine meat shop with outstanding homemade tasso and other smoked meats including andouille and very hot suasages.

New Orleans is of course a paradise of food and restaurants. Check out Mother's on Poydras St. Get a debris sandwich while you're there. You may never have to eat again. Over in the French Quarter there's a little eatery called Fiorella's across the street from the French Market--it's on the far end of the Quarter from Canal St. and the hoopla. Get a fried oyster po' boy. Get it "dressed," comme on dit dans le Vieux Carre. Drink an Abita with it. Heaven. Well, maybe a little hot sauce could improve it.

Anyplace you go in south Louisiana that has remoulade sauce for shrimp get the remoulade.

I don't particularly care for boudin, but you might. Calvin Trillin says the proper way to eat boudin is in the parking lot of the joint where you bought it. Preferably leaning against a pickup.

There's more, but I'm not sure of your itinerary.
