Emeril's Delmonico in New Orleans--Report

Chef Emeril Lagasse's newest restaurant has opened in New Orleans. The name
of it is Delmonico Restaurant & Bar. It is an old New Orleans restaurant that he bought and renovated. The manager I spoke with said it originally opened it 1895 and was owned by the same family until last year.
The food is incredible! I had the Caesar Salad prepared tableside and then
Redfish Almondine for the entree. For dessert, I had the New York style cheesecake with Creole Cream Cheese topping. I am not kidding when I say that this meal blew me away.
Another thing that impressed me was the wine list. The sommelier told me that
they had only been open 2 days and they already had a 500 label wine list. He said he hopes to be at 700 in two weeks.
Anyway I just wanted to let everyone know that Mr. Lagasse has done it again.
If you have any questions I will be happy to try and answer them. I'm planning to go back there this weekend so maybe I can find out more. Later.

Ok, since I started this Flame-A-Thon thread, let me explain a little more
about what I know about this new restaurant. First of all, I do not work there. I am simply another picky diner in New Orleans who is sick of all of these trendy restaurants with items that look more like descriptions from an automobile dealer. In New Orleans and lot of other cities this is the norm. Charging a lot of money for mediocre food that looks pretty doesn't do it for me.
Chef Emeril is one of this cities most well known chefs. When I got wind of
the fact that he had quietly opened his new place, I went and had dinner. As I said in the last post, it was incredible. Since then, I have gone back for lunch. I also spoke with one of the managers about this newsgroup and the rather rude comment I got back about my report. He had a good laugh, but then went on to tell me that Mr. Lagasse's intention was to do basic, classic dishes that no one either does anymore, or does well anymore. He told me that the chef's whole idea was to pay back the city for the education he got when he came down here. He was also kind enough to give me a menu. So here it is. Say what you want, but eat there first. Here goes...
