IMHO, breakfast at Brennan's in New Orleans was OK, but certainly NOT worth 35+ bucks a head. Underpoached Eggs Benedict, so-so Bananas Foster. Nice setting, though.

I guess I missed the first part of this thread, but am I to gather that someone went to Taqueria Corona? That is my absolute most favorite restaurant in New Orleans. If you want some good New Orleans food, however, I wouldn't recommend places like Brennan's, Galatoire's or Patout's-- most people don't eat that kind of fare when they are at home. Next time you are in New Orleans try some good spots frequented by locals (including Taqueria Corona-- yum! shrimp tacos and shrimp-n- cheese flautas!)

*Franky and Johnny's (Tchoupitoulas and Arabella)-- try the crawfish (in season, hot and spicy) and the fried bell pepper rings-- the onion mums and stuffed artichokes are good too.

*Favolara's (Chalmette) killer killer food at rock bottom prices-- and the waitress brings you ya pitcha of sweetened, lemony iced tea along with paper napkins-- no, really, the food is good-- sauteed crawfish tails and shrimp... anything!

*Mama Rosa's (Rampart St right across from Louis Armstrong Park)-- want a cheap, tasty, and filling lunch? A loaf of homemade bread (garlic) for $1.50, a bowl of marinara sauce ($1.50) and a slice of pizza ($1.50) and a pitcher of iced tea ($1.50).... two can eat for less than $10!

*Liuzza's (offa Canal, look in da book, not Liuzza's by the Track)... fried pickle chips, and lotso other good fare...

*Domalise's (Annunciation between Jefferson and Napoleon) the BEST po-boys this sideof paradise. Really.

I *could* go on, but seeing comments about New Orleans restaurants just made me go overboard.... lived there for four years, going back for JazzFest for the restof my life... :)

Ciao,
Jenn
