JohnNot a personal flame but a FERVENT disagreement! :) >1. Bouley NY, NY >2. Gotham Bar & Grill NY, NY >3. Le Bec Fin Phila, Pa >4. Il Mulino NY, NY >5. Xaviars Garrison, NY >6. Shun Lee Palace NY, NY >7. Le Cote Basque NY, NY >8. Union Square Cafe NY, NY >9. The Box Tree NY, NY >10. Susanna Foos Phila, PA Le Cirque! Daniel! Shun Lee Palace is very average, IMO. Susanna Foos is trendy, very expensive, and also quite unspectacular. Bouley isn't in the same league with Le Cirque or Daniel... but they do seem to have the press on their payroll. I like the Gotham Bar and Grill but it is also second tier. Very good, not great. Le Bec Fin and Il Mulino are two of the finest restaurants in the world. Agreed. My list [of places Ive *been* not just read about..] Except for #1, no particular order... 1. Taillavent Paris 2. Hotel Crillon Paris 3. Le Cirque NYC 4. Giles Rouen 5. Daniel NYC 6. Its in Illerhausen. >6) Boyer - Reims Chez Boyer is very fancy, very elegant, and quite good. I didn't think Gerard Boyer was in the same league with Taillevent's Mssr. Vrinat, though...and I found Auberge de L'ill to be much better than Boyer, as well. All, IMO, of course. The best thing about Chez Boyer, IMO, was the absolutely elegant room overlooking the vineyards of Champagne. The dining room was secondary.t --spencer

I haven't been to Charlie Trotters but the buzz from those I trust is that it also doesn't live up to its reputation.
