I had a couple of very good meals in November at the Roppongi branch of Spago, right behind the Hard Rock Cafe. For a dessert stop, an interesting option is the tiny branch of the Viennese confectionery Demel near Shinjuku. Have fun -- Larry

For a dessert stop, an My girlfriend and I tried out Spago in Rappongi last October when I was in Tokyo. The food was pretty good and all, but with wine, pasta, a main course and desert for the both of us, the bill came out to almost Y45,000! Yeah, that place is nice, but NOT that nice! As a matter of fact, after we went dancing at Lexington Queen across the street, we ended up having a snack at the McDonald's, located on the entrance to the alley that leads to the Hard Rock -- people actually stand in line to eat at this place! Ridiculous! -- and Spago's. This time, I am looking for something a little more earthy, a little more Japanese and VERY COZY. Maybe a yakitori place, teppan-yaki or any place with private tatami rooms for dining. Any suggestions? John
