Jessica: Depends on the kind of food you like, and what you define as expensive. Ruby Tuesday's in Washington Square Mall is good--variety of types, reasonable prices ($8-15/person), decent service. Same goes for Houlihan's at Glendale Mall. If you're looking for interesting/ethnic/something-besides-burgers, go explore the Broad Ripple area. Lots of places there--the Broad Ripple Steakhouse, the Parthenon (Greek food to die for), and a little Indian restaurant--I think called India Gardens--whose modest appearance belies the excellence of the food. Lots of others in Broad Ripple I haven't been to.

For some unusual fun, try Illusions on the north side. A little pricy, but they have magicians who come to your table while you wait for the food. It sounds like Chucky Cheese with card tricks, but it's really pretty classy.

Oh, yeah--my favorite hands down: Sister's Restaurant, just south of downtown on Madison Avenue at Terrace Street. Excellent homestyle food, homemade desserts (try the chocolate chip pie), nice atmospere, very diverse clientele (everything from street people to Eli Lilly executives). $3-6/person (really!)
