A note of thanks to all who helped in my search for eats
during my recent trip to Downers Grove. I will be returning to the area in February (I'll have to speak to my boss about that. Who goes to Chicago in Feb.? BRrrr...) and will keep the list to continue my quest to go to EVERY restaurant in Downer's grove. I hit 10 places, if you count the fast food too, while there last week.
I really liked Joe's Crab Shack. 2 birthdays on the night I
was there. Good crowd and good food and service. ( the marinara sauce was HOT. Couldn't feel my lips for several hrs) :-)
Against reccomedations I did go to Loui Linguini's, it was
close to the hotel, and except for the tacky paper on the tables I had an enjoyable evening. The eggplant Parm was good. A little heavy on the onions but I like it that way. The fried calamari was very good and they even supplied extra hot sauce for those who wanted it. (like me)
Gengis Kahn's (spl?) was different. The food was good. We
went for the lunch buffet. I had lamb with my stir-fry and except for the very greasy shrimp rolls, the entire meal was very good. The service, what there was of it, was slow even though we beat the rush be 15 min. I have got to get me one of those cook tops! :-)
Yeah, I also did Olive Garden and Red Lobster et. al. but they
were within walking distance and after a long day... I still have to do Fudrucker's next time out. I missed them this time.
The only place I would not return to was Grady's. The food,
and service were barely acceptable. 'nuff said.
BTW, where do you get all the attractive waitresses? I know
it sounds sexist but, after all, I am a guy. Maybe that had a lot to do with my enjoyment of most of the establishments? Ya think?
I look forward to my next visit. Maybe you could order me up
a mid-winter thaw? Just 1 week of 60 degree weather. What do you say?
