Went to Savannah's last night and had a really good meal. I had two big meaty crab cakes in a red pepper sauce and hoppin john. My wife had a huge grilled pork chop stuffed with figs, pecans and apples with double mashed potatoes (white and yams) mixed with horseradish and a side of greens. Good service and nice atmosphere. Not especially crowded. Also saw Clinton's motorcade drive right by the restaurant down Grand Ave! We had intended to eat at Soul Kitchen looking for the pork/curry/plantain dish that Rick Bayless raved about in the latest Bon Appetit, but alas, thay have removed it from the menu. Good timing! ENtrees were pricey and not really "soul" food and decided to move on to Savannah's. Maybe try SK another time for a snack...some of the appetizers on the menu sounded good.
