Ringo Japanese Restaurant (Review)

Lest all Y'all think that the only thing I ever eat is BBQ, I thought I would post a short review of Ringo, a Japanese restaurant on Lincoln Ave. We ate at Ringo last night for the 4th or 5th time and I can highly recommend it for both sushi and kitchen entrees, though we have mainly had sushi and sashimi there.

Ringo is a small, 8 tables, spotless place with good, though harried service (there is only one waitress), and fresh as a daisy fish. The prices are quite moderate, three of us had a really nice meal last night for $50, not including tip.

The manager brought us out a dish of "on the house" eggplant and sweet potato tempura with two large tempura shisho leaves in the middle, tempura shisho leaves are almost better than BBQ. Actually they might be better, but given my standing as the chi.eats BBQ curmudgeon I am hesitant to admit it. <G>

We chatted a bit last night with the manager, Eugene, and he told us that Ringo supplies Whole Foods and a few other places with sushi, which is most likely the reason such a small place has very nice fish at reasonable prices.

Ringo is BYOB.

Enjoy,
Gary
