For a long time, Cucina Bella on Diversey had a patio out back where dogs were welcome to sit with their owners. The owner/chef would happily bring out pasta or some such contorno for the dogs to dine on. I also know that last summer, we used to take our neighborhood pack to The Duke of Perth (I think this is the name), a British style pub on Clark which welcomed well-behaved dogs inside. In Bucktown, there is an outdoor cafe on the east side of Damen, just south of North Ave. There are always dogs there. I am also aware of a local book, whose name escapes me, which purports to list all of the establishments where dogs are welcome. It is called something like "Dog Friendly Chicago", or somesuch. There seems to be an ongoing battle, however, among those pro and con, and with the local political powers. Now I usually check beforehand at those places I used to frequent with my dog. And yes, in some countries in Europe, dogs are an accepted part of the restaurant scene. In Italy and France I have always seen them lying quietly at their owners' feet, in all sorts of restaurants, even very expensive ones. Joel Cucina Bella 543 W. There is a place called Fido's at 5416 N. Clark St, Chicago (773-9733436). They have a deli for dogs and a party room where you can have a party for dogs. They make all kinds of dog treats including birthday cake (made of ingredients suitable for dogs, of course.)

Famous Fido's isn't there anymore. I think they went mailorder. What a shame. I'm right around the corner; we used to go there all the time. Kathleen B. wrote: > Famous Fido's Doggie Deli > 1533 W. Famous Fido's moved to Clark, around Bryn Mar, near Thybony paint.
