I had lunch there today with several co-workers. They had a real nice salad bar, with many types of salads, fresh bread, very good tomato soup with sherry and cheese in it. For desert the salad bar included seven layer cookies, chocolate chip cookies with a fudge base, frosting coated oreo cookies, fresh fruit, catalope, strawberries, honey dew mellon, and Pineapple. Oh yeah, and it also had turkey and ham sandwiches on it. Many of the other people in my group ordered white fish on a plank, I've had this before and it is pretty good, although they didn't get their food til after I came back with my second plate full. Which is annoying because they all wanted me to bring them food because I was eating while they were waiting. If you haven't been there before I recommend the salad bar for lunch. They also have a 30-day aged steak I've been meaning to try, but that seems like a lot of food for lunch hour. At night they have live music, usually jazz or some old fogy stuff. They're cigar friendly, and have a billards room. Pros - good food and atmosphere. cons - long wait for food other than salad bar.
Chicago, IL
Pete Miller's - Evanston
I've eaten there many times - and the slow service is an exception - the service is usually outstanding. The same owners also have Pete Miller's Steak House - the steaks are alway very good at Nevin's (and cheaper!) My only opinion - avoid the days when they have the bagpipers!
