I believe that both Marshall Fields and Nordstrom have their own restaurants. There's an expensive French place called (I believe) Fond de la Tour (?) which is a mile or two west of the mall. A little further west is the Carlisle and then a collection of generic places (Olive Garden, TGIFridays, Hooters, Carlos Murphy's, Baker's Square) all along Butterfield road. Back near the mall there is a Giordano's (Pizza) and directly south of the mall is a House of Hunan. There are a couple of nicer places at the mall whose names escape me at the moment. If you're looking for a "nicer" place, then I would recommend trying one of these or trying The Carlisle or the French place. Other than that, I see no way of avoiding generia in suburbia. Near Woodfield? I like Grisantis (1 mile west on Golf) not as generic as the other choices (eg. Olive Garden, Red Lobster). There is also a Gino's East (pizza) about three miles East of the mall at the southwest corner of the intersection of Golf and Algonquin. There's a place called Genghis Khan (Mongolian Barbecue) in the strip mall at the northeast corner of the intersection of Roselle and Golf, but this is down aways from Woodfield and doesn't suit everyone's taste. [The idea is that YOU make your plate by stuffing in the meats vegetables and sauces/oils/spices that you like and they grill it. I don't really like this place. My friends go because they like making their food as hot as possible and then sweating/crying/sniffling profusely. I just generally put in the veggies/fruits and when grilled these shrivel away into nothing leaving me hungry once again.] Given a choice, pick OakBrook. It's a much better mall for both shopping and eating. Also, check out the Border's bookstore across the road (Rte. 83) from the mall. This place is huge compared to the dinky little bookstores I'm used to. [There is also a Barnes and Noble (superstore?) a little bit south of the Border's on the same side of the street.
