I second the recommendation of Terry's in Mundelein. I used to go there when it was in that little building across from the post office. Now they've got a nicer place, but the food is still excellent. (I grew up in the southwest, and really missed good Mexican food around Chicago when I first moved here.)
El Barrio is OK, but I don't find it to be anything special.
