Shirley,
In my opinion the Palm has the best lobster in town. Whole fresh Maine lobsters are lightly steamed then split lengthwise. They then add approximately 1/4 cup of heavy cream to each side and then broil them in a salamander. A salamander is a commercial gas flame broiler that reaches 1200. The cream in the lobster bubbles up and imparts an even richer flavor profile to the lobster, if that is possible, and the roe, tomalley and parts of the flesh take on a slightly caramelized texture and flavor. The meat is rich, succulent and moist. The Palm also has baked lobster and for the diet conscious plain steamed lobster. Yes, they have "BIG" lobsters available, from 3lbs to whatever your budget can bear.

The Palm also has excellent steaks, second only to Morton's. (In my opinion)

For Alaskan king crab I like Bob Chinn's. Bob Chinn's often has fresh, never frozen king crab and it is wonderful, it is not really a special occasion type restaurant though. I know there have been postings on the ambiance, or should I say, lack of ambiance at Bob Chinn's. To me it is simply evocative of a Maryland blue crab joint. The type where they serve the steamed crabs on beer trays and you have at them with a wooden mallet while sitting at a picnic table.

I also like the shrimp and eggs at Bob Chinn's. Shrimp and eggs are like shrimp and lobster sauce at an American/Cantonese restaurant, except they use whole large shrimp in the shell and it tastes good. If they had chili oil available instead of just Tabasco the dish would be really wonderful. I think that next time I feel like shrimp and eggs I will bring some of my homemade chili oil.

Sounds like a wonderful occasion, congratulations on whatever you are celebrating.

Enjoy,
Gary
