It just isn't St. Patrick's day without corned beef, so the cohabitant and I went for it in our favorite form: on rye, with mustard. I hadn't tried Kaufmann's before, and figured it was time to try. My experience with the beef is somewhat limited in Chicago: I like Manny's atmosphere more than their meat, and Samuel's on Broadway has been on the gristly side every time I tried it (and if you ask for it hot, they'll nuke it--not good.)

Kaufmann's, on the other hand, was the real thing. Not a super huge sandwich, but plenty filling for $4.50. Nice tender meat, lean, thinly sliced, thoroughly satisfying. Pickles included.

Got turnovers from the bakery for the next day's breakfast, which were pretty good too.

It's on the south side of Dempster in Skokie, east of the Swift, west of Barnum and Bagel. Might even be Swift-accessible for you hungry El travelers, but I was driving that day, so I can't say.
